There's also one I use early on, which is two sideways manual airlock doors stacked, surrounded by two mechanical powered doors. This provides insulation (as it destroys gasses between the doors) and there's very little mixing. The end doors have pressure sensors that detect the door weight, and feed to an AND gate which opens the center door on a filter. If you don't mind a tiny bit of mixing and gas destruction, you can use a triple powered mechanical door. I have used them, but haven't extensively tested. These airlocks can be reversed upside-down and hydrogen used with no debuff and no issues with water disappearing, but can get issues with pressure. Also, it can have a simple drop of water on the step, like the minimalistic ones. The problem with this is the "soaking wet" debuff. This one is a monstrosity, but will not fail you (the center space is a vacuum). A good airlock should be easy to build, not break accidentally, minimal in size, not slow down the dups and sometimes 100% heat insulated. Many of my rooms are 4 tiles tall, so I wanted to see how the airlocks fit inside the room/entrance. I used water in the demos, but oil and petroleum are best for hot/cold temperatures. I find airlocks very useful, and wanted to create a summary of the best ones. ![]()
